According to a recently distributed statement, Toyota has decided to permanently end vehicle production at its Saint Petersburg, Russia facility.
Manufacturing had been suspended since March 4th “due to the interruption in supply of key materials and parts.”
After six months, the Japanese automaker does not feel it can resume “normal activities” at its sole production facility in Russia.
The initial shutdown occurred approximately 10 days after Russian troops invaded Ukraine.
The company also announced plans to restructure operations in the country to ensure support of its Moscow-based retail network.
The plant produced Camry and RAV4 models, with a maximum annual output of 100,000 vehicles.
