Stellantis, the parent company to auto brand Chrysler, has announced a measure that could trim down its U.S workforce.
The company says it will offer voluntary buyouts to 13,000 U.S.-based workers.
In order to be eligible, the workers must be at least 55 years of age and have worked for the company for ten years or more.
According to a statement, Stellantis’ offer is "part of our transformation to become a sustainable tech mobility company and the market leader in low-emission vehicles."
Stellantis has dedicated more than $35 billion to the effort of developing plug-in hybrid, all-electric vehicles and related software.
A Stellantis spokesperson said the voluntary separation offer features a "favorable package of benefits that otherwise would not be available to (eligible workers)."
According to The Detroit News, Stellantis also offered a buyout late last year that more than 330 workers took.
Workers have until Dec 5th to seek a buyout.
