Ford to Go Carbon Neutral

Three areas of its business account for 95% of emissions.

Ford has joined other major companies in pledging to go carbon neutral with its operations.

In a blog post, the automaker said that it will be carbon neutral by 2050 by modifying the three areas of its business that account for 95% of emissions.

These include vehicle use, as well as Ford’s supply base and facilities.

When it comes to its products, Ford will invest $11.5 billion over the next few years on development of electric vehicles.

The company also says that by 2035, it will power all its plants with renewable energy, such as hydropower, geothermal, wind or solar.

Ford is joining the likes of Shell and Formula 1 in their recent carbon neutrality commitments.

But the company says it is the only full-line U.S. automaker “committed to doing its part to reduce CO2 emissions in line with the Paris Climate Agreement and working with California for stronger standards.”
