Paul N. Gardner USA (Columbia, MD) introduces the Portable Copper-Copper Sulfate Half Cell Reference Electrodes (CSE), used for measuring electrode potential for pipe to soil, close interval surveys, structure to cell and lab use. They are the most commonly used reference electrode for testing cathodic protection of corrosion control systems.
Reference electrodes consist of a plastic tube holding a copper rod and copper sulfate solution. A porous plug on one end allows contact with the copper sulfate electrolyte. The copper rod sticks out of the tube. A voltmeter negative lead is connected to the copper rod.
Benefits include the following:
- Used to measure electrode potential in lab and field
- Can withstand harsh environments
- Long lasting tips
- 2 different tip styles to choose from: Flat (A) tip - used for electrolytes like soils, liquids, and concrete; or Pointed (B) tip - cone shaped tip for inserting into soils to maintain a good contact with the electrolyte
- 6 different electrode body styles to choose from
- Rechargeable allowing you to maintain accuracy for a longer time
- Can be used repeatedly
