Based in Lyndhurst, NJ, Advantix Logistics is a staffing agency that provides labor for warehouses and distribution facilities.
On Thursday, a district court ordered the company to pay $65,000 in damages to an employee fired for raising pay concerns.
The worker was fired in February 2022 after he told his supervisor that he wasn't being paid for all hours worked.
An investigation by the Department of Labor (DOL) alleged that Advantix terminated the employee over these complaints.
According to the DOL's Wage & Hour Division, Advantix continued to threaten the worker when he asked why his final paycheck did not include all wages earned.
The company then attempted to prevent co-workers from cooperating with the investigation.
The company's actions violated the Fair Labor Standards Act’s anti-retaliation and investigatory provisions.
The court also ordered Advantix not to retaliate against or intimidate any current or former employees who complain about pay or speak with investigators.
