The Testing Series: Wall Thickness Test

The entire test takes 30 seconds.

In this test, we measure wall thickness.

Experts at Interpower’s testing facility in Lamoni, Iowa use a Quadra-Chek 300 to measure wall thickness on cords.

For ordinary duty SJT cords, the thickness can’t be less than .024", and it has to average .027" around the entire cord.

Interpower hits .032".

For light duty SVT cords, the thickness can’t be less than .013", and it has to average .016".

Interpower hits .019".

The entire test takes 30 seconds.

It takes more material and time, but the test is worth it, because it insures that an inferior product never leaves the building.

The Testing Series covers how one American manufacturer is making sure that we stay safe and our products remain powered. It features the Top 6 tests every cord should go through before it finds a mate.

The series includes exclusive footage from Interpower’s state-of-the-art facilities in Iowa, as the tests were being performed.
