According to The Drive, Ford recently filed a patent titled "Systems and Methods to Repossess a Vehicle.”

Any Ford vehicle with a data connection could be fitted with the technology, allowing for the remote disabling of one or more features.

The system could provide warnings and, if ignored, eventually begin turning off features like cruise control, window controls, seat controls or the radio.

Self-driving vehicles could also potentially move themselves and find a location for a tow truck to pick them up.

If the car isn’t worth going through the entire repossession process, the technology could also be used to drive it to the junkyard.
