Bakery Manufacturing Facility Worker Locked in Freezer Overnight

A preliminary investigation said coworkers found him the following morning.

A worker at a Brooklyn bakery manufacturing facility was found dead in a walk-in freezer, ABC7 New York reports

The accident occurred at a 50,000-square-foot facility owned by Beigel’s Bakery.

A preliminary investigation said coworkers found the 33-year-old at 8:45 a.m. EDT Thursday.

Investigators added that the worker appeared to have been accidentally locked in the freezer overnight.

The worker is believed to have walked into the freezer around 3 a.m. EDT. 

A Beigel’s Bakery manager said the company is cooperating with an ongoing investigation. 

Beigel’s Bakery was founded in Poland in 1934 and began U.S. operations in 1949.
